Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we’ll ever do

People come to therapy for a wide variety of reasons, some to gain a better understanding of themselves, some to deal with difficult or complex life situations or relationships, and some to deal with diagnosable psychiatric/psychological conditions. Some of the areas I assist with, include: processing trauma and abuse, navigating relationship difficulties, parent-child relationship distress, marriage and couples counselling, loss and bereavement, managing mood and anxiety disorders, eating disorders, stress related difficulties such as burnout, sleep disorders, addiction and self-development.
Whatever brings you to therapy, making the decision to come to therapy, choosing a psychologist, and starting the therapeutic journey can sometimes be an overwhelming experience. I offer a safe, non-judgemental and empathic space in which your individuality will be respected.
I am a registered Clinical Psychologist (HPCSA Reg. no: PS0131431) who provides clinical assessment and psychotherapy to children, adolescents, adults and couples, in both English and Afrikaans.
My practice is primarily grounded within an integrative Psychodynamic framework, which means that therapy will not only focus on the reduction of symptoms but also on a deeper self-understanding as to why the particular symptoms might have developed. I regard the strength and safety of the therapeutic relationship as extremely important as it is within this relationship that personal growth and self-development usually occur. I also utilise other evidence-based psychotherapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Schema Therapy, according to the needs of each individual.
I have completed my formal academic training at Stellenbosch University where I have obtained my MA (Clinical Psychology) (2014), MA (Psychology) (2013 - 2014), BA (Hons) Psychology (2011), and Bachelor of Social Work degrees (2007 - 2010).
Our practice is located in Loevenstein, a tranquil area in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town, with easy access from the N1. The practice has unsurpassed and beautiful views over the extended Cape Town area, including Table Mountain and False Bay. We offer a calm, private, safe and non-judgemental space to provide the optimal conditions within which personal growth and self-development can occur.
I will work closely with you to tailor therapy to assist you with your unique individual needs. Although the following is not an exhaustive list, I can provide assistance with:
